in our studio the process is usually the most intense part i always say that my newest idea that im about to work on next is the best idea ive ever had (if i dont believe that then why even bother) (even though majority of the time thats not even true, but that doesnt matter).

for the second drop of myth magazine haley wollens asked us what we were thinking about and wanted to do. immediately we knew how bothered we were by the idea of the editorial process in terms of sending tireless email after email to designers and brands asking to borrow clothes. asking to borrow clothes that are now out of season, that are probably out of someones studio because another stylist has them and is sitting quietly on their wrack for a photoshoot that goes unused. just the thought of this is enough to not even want to embark on a new editorial, but of course like the beast we are we cant say no to a good editorial especially when its coming from our girl haley.

instead we jumped at a better idea how about we build the editorial from front to back! lets design a collection and remove the middle man....why ask other people for clothes when we have the means to create what we need for the story? (light switchj!) we all agreed to create a brand new dauan jacari collection for our editorial and then make the editorial the lookbook, show, campaign, and alll that other stuff in one!

this collection comes from a lot of places but first it comes from people. the people that inspire us. two specific are devin n morris and diamond stingily. sometimes you meet people and are instantely affected by their energy. however in this case their style, poise and how they see the world was an abundance of inspiration on top of their personhood to make a collection through.

whether its diamonds rule that one must always keep a pair of sunglasses in their purse

or devin's strap sandle obsession this summer.

the collection also comes from our love of "fast fashion" and parents. growing up shopping in thrift stores, growing up seeing our moms get dressed. the neoprene dresses that are now 'outdated' the turtleknecks that no one even bothers to consider an option these days. all of these outdated clothes arent outdated they just needed to get updated.
